Jamie Oliver - Ted Talks
Jamie Oliver has one of those faces I want to slap, but he's successful in his campaigns for the promotion of healthy eating for children. Everyone's heard of his School Dinners shows, which had varying levels of success in terms of reception throughout the US. This Ted Talks references some really important, eye opening issues that really demand a need for change.
Something that stood out to me is the fact that many children aren't properly taught about fruits and vegetables, and can't name many of the most common ones like potatoes or tomatoes. On his programmes he spent only a couple of hours with the kids, teaching them in a fun and interactive way, and it showed dramatic improvement in the children's understanding and ability to label the foods.
This could be something that I look at with my publication. Attempting to promote healthy foods, and educate children through fun, interactive means.
